Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 15 minutes

Servings: 2 cups

Ingredients:

2 cups whole milk (or your preferred milk alternative)

2 black tea bags (or 2 tsp loose-leaf tea), see note

1 cinnamon stick (or ½ tsp ground cinnamon)

2 cardamom pods, lightly crushed (or ¼ tsp ground cardamom)

¼ tsp ground ginger

⅛ tsp ground cloves (optional)

¼ tsp vanilla extract

2 oz white chocolate, finely chopped (about ⅓ cup)

Sweetener to taste (honey, sugar, or maple syrup — optional)

Note: You can substitute 2 chai tea bags or 2 teaspoons of loose tea for the black tea and omit the spices if you prefer.

Instructions:

Add the milk, cinnamon stick, cardamom, ginger, and cloves (if using) to a small saucepan and cook over medium heat. Stir occasionally and heat until the milk is hot but not boiling.

Once the milk is hot, remove it from the heat. Add the tea bags and let them steep for 5–7 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.

Remove the tea bags and the cinnamon stick. Stir in the chopped white chocolate and vanilla extract. Whisk gently until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

Taste the chai and add a sweetener if needed. Pour into two mugs and enjoy warm. For an extra indulgent touch, top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg.

Tips:

  • Dairy-free option: Use almond, oat, or coconut milk and dairy-free white chocolate chips.
  • Loose-leaf chai: If you’re using loose-leaf tea, strain it after steeping before adding the chocolate.
  • Make it iced: Let the chai cool, then pour over ice for a refreshing summer treat.
